When Stress Overpowers Your Life...Conquer it!

Ever have one of those days where every single moment at work was stressful. Were there a million moments where you could have just let loose, yell at the stupidity occurring. BUT you refrained because being professional is more important than caving to someone's ridiculousness. Even though we may want to speak our mind, say how angry we are at the lack of consideration and caring for others, we continue to do our work. Which in itself is a huge success.

BUT large amounts of stress are where my mind starts to wander....this is when in the past  I would normally go home and binge on junk or stop along the way home and get something from a fast food place. I used to allow stress to rule over everything including what I ate and when I ate. But it can be so hard. At every red light is some sort of fast food place, coffee shop or ice cream place. The temptation is all around us!

SO.....what did I do the last time I was super stressed out? I went to Marshalls. Seriously! I needed to get some more workout gear (you can never have enough and some of my pants are stretched out from when I had gained weight). I walked around the store for a while and de-stressed....just worked on remaining in the moment and not focusing on what had happened earlier. My mind still wandered as to what I would snack on...

So how does one combat this???? Here are a few tips to knock the unhealthy snacking in moments of weakness:
1. I always think will that REALLY satisfy me??? (Most times NO)!
2. I always avoid the grocery store when I am feeling like this
3. Drink water! I drink a glass of water and wait...see if I am still really hungry and go from there
4. Go complete a task on my to do list and re-evaluate how I am feeling
5. Spend time with my friends or family...that way it takes my mind off the stress and the eventual binge that would have occurred.

Hope these tips help you to overcome the binge that occurs when stress rises! Have a great day!
