Last weekend, I went to D.C as some of you saw. It was to attend the Avon 39: Walk to End Breast Cancer kick off event. Today ends the first phase of this journey to earn my 39 and start the training process.
At the event, I was asked to share "why I journey to 39?" As most of you know, this decision was very personal. My journey to 39 has nothing to do with me, it has everything to do with the reality of what metastatic breast cancer can do.
2 1/2 months ago I watched a 3 year battle come to an end.
2 1/2 months ago I watched our world completely change
2 1/2 months ago I vowed to continue her mission
Cancer waits for no one.
Cancer takes whoever it wants when it wants.
Cancer is relentless.
Cancer needs to be oblitered.
Adrienne forever remains my angel, the person who I pray for first, the person who forever will be my best friend, my advice giver, my stylist, my rock. She may not be here physically, but she always remains in my heart and a huge factor in the way I live my life.
This journey to 39, is do provide services, treatments, surgeries and a research fund to end breast cancer. I decided to do something about it. There wasn't enough done when she was here, there wasn't enough awareness and treatment options specifically for her type of cancer.
So April 30th-May 1st, I will walk along side other amazing people who have been personally affected by cancer or survived cancer.
Please take a moment, watch my video, contribute if you can and sign the petition.
