Tip #2: Eat food that has benefits for your brain
-By lunch time for most of us we are halfway through our day but our choices at lunch can greatly affect how we function for the rest of the day.
-So eat foods that have nutritional value (complex carbs, proteins and vegetables). Avoid the sugary snacks, treats and junk food that will only make you more tired for the rest of your day.
-A good go to happy brain food meal is a vegetable stir fry. Ginger is a great way to reduce headaches and improves memory.
Tip #3 Skip the Soda
-Yes...I said it drop the quick fix caffeinated beverages like energy drinks. These contain stimulants that actually can increase stress and anxiety. (No one needs more stress in their work day). These drinks also tend to increase bloating and make you feel miserable and tired later in the day.
Tip #4 Avoid the Spicy, Upsetting Stomach Foods
-Stress is in significant forms will increase your risk for ulcers. But when combined with spicier or higher acidic foods can increase your risk for ulcers as well.
-Always eat in moderation, limit the spices and acidic foods to reduce your risk for feeling sick later.
Tip #5 Get Creative With Your Lunch
-Too often we get easily distracted by how things look versus their nutritional value. So to avoid going for quick fix, interesting looking snacks be more creative with your lunches. Here are several simple but awesome recipe ideas to stay focused on your nutrition:
-Pasta with pesto sauce: adding basil, garlic and nuts
-Grilled chicken and mixed veggies put together gives it an added boost for flavor
-BLT- take your regular BLT utilizing turkey bacon or pancetta and add avocado, arugula and tomato. Go even further and toast the bread!
-Chicken pitas- take a pita, add in some grilled chicken, hummus, spinach and tomatoes
-Yogurt parfaits for a sweeter treat- Take Greek yogurt, fruit, granola and add some cinnamon for a kick
